Introduction:

Mindfulness practice is highly helpful to counsellors in developing therapeutic qualities such as presence,compassion, acceptance, equanimity, and avoiding burnout. Mindfulness-based interventions also help our clients to become experts on their own lives and unfold their wisdom in coping with stress and difficulties.

Aims:

This training programme is designed to enable you to incorporate mindfulness into your counselling practice and particularly in helping clients with depression or anxiety problems.

Training Format:

Through active participation in mindfulness practices, case study, role play, group sharing and discussion.

Content︰

 

Day 1: Becoming a Mindful Counsellor

(Learn the basics of Mindful Counselling and develop the core mindfulness skills of focused attention, openness, allowing, lovingkindness, self-compassion, and equanimity.)

 

Topics:

1. Bringing Mindfulness into the Counselling Room
2. Cultivating Mindfulness in the Therapeutic Relationship
3. Bringing Loving-Kindness and Compassion to Practice

Day 2: Integrating Mindfulness into Counselling Practices

Aims:

(Conceptual learning, Case studies, skills demonstration and skills practice through role-playing.)

 

Topics:

1. The Mindfulness Paradigm of Anxiety/ Depression
2. Mindfulness-based approach to Anxiety/Depression treatment
3. Mindfulness Practices for clients with anxiety/depression
4. Introducing mindfulness practices to clients

Target︰Suitable for helping professionals. Preferences will be given to people who have attended MBCT /MBSR 8 week training courses or acquired mindfulness training, and have regular mindfulness practices.

​Language︰Mainly Cantonese supplemented by English.

 

Certificate︰Participants with 80% or above attendance would be granted certificates.

Mrs Winnie Lee has over 30 years’ experience working in the education and counselling field. She started her career as a Social Worker in the Family Services of the Social Welfare Department in HK, then she was employed as a Child and Educational Psychologist in Australia for 9 years before working as a Counselling Psychologist in a local university for over 20 years. She now works privately as a counselling psychologist and a part-time lecturer cum clinical supervisor in local universities.
With her many professional qualifications and extensive work experiences, Mrs Lee is well experienced in counselling cases of different nature including emotional problems, stress and anxiety, parenting, couple/family relationships, children with behavioural and emotional difficulties, mental health issues and other personal issues. She is knowledgeable in conducting a wide range of psychological assessments and training programmes for counsellors, teachers and parents.
